Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born February 20, 1988) is am barbadian singer and model known with the stage name of Rihanna simply. She moved to US for recording career and joined Def Jam recordings. Her music style as described by volume 65 of Contemporary Black Biography  is “Rihanna is the rare rhythm and blues (R&B) diva to emerge from the Caribbean world.”[74] Becoming an international sensation, Rihanna is known for blending R&B with Caribbean music, such as reggae and dancehall”. Rihanna has sold over 12 million album is very short period of time. She has won awards of Wolrd’s best selling female pop artist and best entertainer of year (World Music Awards) in 2007 and in 2008 Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist (American Music Awards).

Rihanna became famous with the release of her debut single Pon de Replay which proved to be worldwide hit. It reached up to no. 2 spot on Billboard hot 100 charts and included in top ten of many other countries. The debut album Music of the Sun performed average on the charts but made Rihanna famous in the world music market and established her as successful female pop/Rnb artist. The second album A Girl Like Me was also very much successful as she was observed moving her music from tropical to urban side. The first single SOS was able to reach no. 1 position in the United States and the second single Unfaithful in the top ten charts. Thanks to the commercially successful singles the album was certified Platinum in the US. The third album Good Girl Gone Bad produced singles like Umbrella featuring Jay-Z, Disturbia and Don’t stop the Music which were all multiplatinum and made album sell more than 2 million units. Umbrella was so commercially successful that it stayed atop Billboard hot 100 for straight Nine Weeks. Other singles from the album Shut up and Drive, Take a Bow, hate that I love you and Rehab were also super hit.

After Janet Jackson she is the first artist to have seven top twenty hit singles from the same album that is from Good Girl Gone Bad. She has fine no. 1 hits and eleven top ten hits to her credit. In 2009, Good Girl Gone Bad: The Remixes was released, containing radio-edit remixes of eleven tracks from Good Girl Gone Bad. As a featuring artist she got much popularity with the super hit single Live your Life with T.I. and Run This Town along with Jay-Z and Kanye West.
