She has certified sale of 62.5 million album sales in the US and more than 200 million albums worldwide. Since starting her career from 1990, she has produced 18 no. 1 singles which is the best record next to The Beatles. Moreover she has 27 songs which reached to top ten statuses in Billboard hot 100 charts and is tying the position of artist with fifth most top ten hits of billboard with Elton John and Janet Jackson. She is best known for her vocal range, power, melismatic style, and use of the whistle register. She has five Grammy awards to her name.

She started her career with Coloumbia records with the debut album entitled Mariah Carey which was a big breakthrough and was certified 9x platinum in the US. It sold a total of 15 million albums worldwide and produced superhit singles Visions of love, Love takes time, Someday and I don’t wanna cry which were all no. 1 hits in the US. Later albums Emotions, Music Box, Merry Chritsmas, Day dream and Rainbow were huge hits attaining multi-platinum status. In early 2000 she faced poor record sales but re-gained her position as top selling artist in 2005 with the super hit album Emancipation of Mimi. Her latest album released is Memoirs of an imperfect angel released in 2009.
